The Medical-Surgical Unit is dedicated to providing quality acute care to adults and children with medical conditions as well as post-operative surgical care.
As a patient, the level of care may be changed to skilled care at some point during the hospital stay. Skilled care, also on the same floor, is provided to patients who no longer need daily physician care but require skilled nursing care on a continuing basis (seven days a week, 24 hours per day) or who need specific services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy at least five days each week.
The Intensive Care Unit located on the Medical / Surgical floor is dedicated to the constant monitoring of patients whose condition requires close nursing supervision.
The Emergency Department team provides emergency care 24 hours a day. Physicians, nurses and other staff members are specially trained to ensure patients receive immediate state of the art medical attention. Air care helicopter services directly link Jefferson County Health Center to Iowa City services.
Health and wellness programs are a significant part of Jefferson County Health Center's tradition of caring. People of all ages can benefit from the programs available through the Education Department. Programs range from lifestyle modification classes to stress reduction and health assessment services.
