Jefferson County Health Center Expands COVID-19 Immunizations

Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) is expanding Moderna COVID-19 vaccine availability and now offers multiple ways for the community to schedule and receive a COVID-19 immunization.

“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated. Now, you can schedule an appointment, get the vaccine during an already scheduled visit, or even just go to JCHC Clinics and ask for the vaccine,” said Curtis Smith, Chief Operating Officer.

JCHC previously hosted mass vaccination clinics. As vaccination levels increased in Jefferson County and across Iowa, fewer people signed up for each clinic. This new approach will offer more options to the community for vaccination and hopefully continue to increase the number of vaccinated individuals within the county.

“At this stage in the pandemic, the focus is to get shots out in whatever way possible. The more people we can vaccinate, the fewer people the virus can easily infect, and the faster we can move toward a return to normalcy,” said Dr. Michael Greiner, a primary care provider at JCHC Clinics.

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is approved for adults 18 and older. Individuals can now receive their vaccination through JCHC in one of three convenient ways. Those interested do not have to be a JCHC patient to receive the vaccination.
