JCHC Heart Health & Home Cooking Demo 2026

Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) will once again host their Annual Heart Health & Home Event 🧡, this year with a focus on heart health and stroke awareness. This free educational event will take place on Thursday, February 26, from 5–7 p.m. in Conference Room C at JCHC.

The evening will feature a live cooking demonstration led by Colette Banda, Registered Dietitian, where she will showcase a heart-healthy recipe and offer practical tips for preparing nutritious meals at home. Participants will learn simple, realistic ways to support heart health through healthy eating and everyday lifestyle choices.

In addition, attendees will learn how to recognize the warning signs of stroke using the F.A.S.T. method, understand common stroke risk factors, and discover how small changes can make a big difference in long-term heart health.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste complimentary samples and see how delicious heart-healthy eating can be. On-site blood pressure checks will also be available.

“We’re excited to bring this valuable information to our community and help participants better understand how they can protect their heart,” says Colette Banda, Registered Dietitian. “This event provides practical, sustainable steps for improving health in the kitchen and beyond.”

A special thanks to the JCHC Auxiliary for sponsoring this event and making it possible.
