Dr. Florita Henderson brings more than 20 years of combined clinical and research experience to Jefferson County Health Center. She specializes in internal medicine and is dedicated to helping patients live healthier lives through compassionate, patient-centered care. After completing her medical training at Saint Louis University in the Philippines, she continued her education with a research fellowship at the University of Iowa and completed internal medicine residency training in both the United Kingdom and at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
In recognition of her dedication to patient care and the medical profession, Dr. Henderson received the 2021 Laureate Award from the American College of Physicians – Iowa Chapter. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking with fresh produce, sourdough baking, hiking, running, and traveling with her family. She also volunteers at a free clinic and is actively involved in faith ministry, reflecting her commitment to serving others both inside and outside of medicine.
