Dr. Munjal pioneered robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery in Iowa and has authored chapters in orthopedic texts on primary, complex, revision and computer-assisted total joint replacement.

Dr. Sandeep Munjal is an orthopedic surgeon with 30 years of experience caring for patients with a wide range of orthopedic conditions. His practice includes general orthopedics with a special focus on hip and knee care, adult joint reconstruction and joint replacement. He believes in listening first, helping patients understand their condition and treatment options, and developing a plan of care that is personalized to each individual.

Dr. Munjal’s path to medicine was influenced by seeing the effects of polio in his home country and the impact it had on mobility and quality of life. That experience helped inspire his passion for helping patients maintain or regain movement and independence. His story was featured in Flight to End Polio: How Polio Inspired a Surgeon’s Future.

Throughout his career, Dr. Munjal has combined compassionate, patient-centered care with advances in orthopedic technology. He pioneered robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery in Iowa and continues to incorporate innovative treatment options when they may benefit his patients. Patients describe him as knowledgeable, thorough, compassionate and an excellent communicator.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Munjal enjoys spending time with his wife and family, including their three daughters, two sons-in-law and granddaughter. He enjoys pickleball, tennis and table tennis, and has earned a state singles gold medal and won in doubles table tennis competition. He also hopes to learn to play the saxophone.
